School Library Journal 10/01/2002

PreS-Childhood favorites are given an unusual twist in this collection of repackaged standard lullabies. All 20 songs, 10 with vocals and 10 instrumentals, are interspersed with positive affirmations such as, "Develop a desire and eagerness for learning. Knowledge will elevate your life," and "Love is the reason you're here. Love brings beauty and joy to everyone and everything." While the tunes are easily recognized, they are not always referred to by their common titles. For instance, "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star" is called "Goodnight Starlight," and "Dreamland Lullaby" is actually the tune to "Where Has My Little Dog Gone." Musically well done, with songs frequently sung by children, this collection of lullabies would best serve its purpose in a home environment where parents can include their own words of love and affirmation for their children and for public library collections where parenting is emphasized.-Veronica Schwartz, Des Plaines Public Library, IL
